OK, so what is Pétanque?
Pétanque is a game of skill played with steel balls, called “boules,” on a rectangular field called a “piste.” As you can tell, modern pétanque has it’s origins in France (see Petanca History).At it’s highest levels, Pétanque requires skill, strategy, and technique, but little strength or athleticism. Thus, it is suitable to players of all sizes, ages, and condition.Pétanque can be quite competitive at all skill levels, but, outside of top-level competitions, it is quite leisurely and has an enjoyable social appeal similar to pub darts.
